Frigate Tatarstan returns to Caspian Flotilla in June

18.05.2011 Flagship of Caspian Flotilla (CF) frigate Tatarstan will be recommissioned into the flotilla after repair in June, reports RIA Novosti referring to a spokesman for the Navy.

Now the ship is at the closing stage of scheduled repair performed by Volga-Caspian Ship Repair Plant, said the official.

"The sea trials are scheduled in June; then the ship will return to permanent deployment site", said the interviewee.

Frigate Tatarstan is designed for antisubmarine/antisurface/antiaircraft warfare as well as other tasks like ship/convoy escorting, patrols, protection of state border and maritime economic zone. The ship is armed with powerful missile, antiaircraft, artillery, antisubmarine, and antitorpedo weapons.
