In 2012, it is planned to determine technical design of prospective ocean zone destroyer, said Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky at keel-laying ceremony of Project 20385 lead corvette and Project 22350 frigate held on Feb 1 at Severnaya Verf shipyard (St. Petersburg).

Admiral Vysotsky said in Aug 2011 that construction of a new-generation destroyer for Russian Navy would start in 2012.
Earlier on, president of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation Roman Trotsenko announced the new ocean-going destroyer would be constructed in 2016.
