CONSTRUCTION, NAME

The submarine was laid down on October 6, 1982 at Krasnoye Sormovo Shipyard (Gorky) under the name of B-401; launched on March 15, 1984; commissioned on January 7, 1984. The sub obtained the name of Novosibirsk on July 18, 1998 when she was taken under patronage of Novosibirsk city administration.
