A fire occurred on Baltic Fleet (BF) passenger boat PSK-405 in the evening of Dec 20 in naval harbor of Baltiysk, reports REGNUM referring to BF Military Procuracy.

Fire outbreak in one of compartments was detected by a watchman during the damage control watch at the quayside. Being in emergency status, the boat left the quay; the fire was brought under control after 3 hours. Nobody suffered; the compartment burned out.

Baltiysk Procuracy conducts preliminary inquiry into the incident. Reportedly, the ignition cause was short circuit in cable line.

As was previously said by REGNUM referring to BF press service, the scheduled decommission of passenger boat PSK-405 had been started in July 2006. The boat was used as a ferry between Baltiysk (Vistula) Bar and continental part of Kaliningrad region.
