Nigerian pirates hijacked tanker Cape Bird with three Russian crewmen on board, reports website of Russian Guild of Sailors.

The ship was captured 70 nautical miles (somewhat 130 km) off Lagos, Nigeria on Oct 8. Apart from Russians, there are Georgian, Ukrainian, and Latvian sailors aboard the tanker. Their families have been already informed on the incident.

The tanker flies the flag of Marshall Islands; shipowner is Columbia Deutschland.

Reportedly, talks on release terms have been already started.
