The Maritime Cooperation 2012 Russian-Chinese naval exercise currently held in the Yellow Sea off Qingdao is neither directed against third countries nor attempt of Moscow and Beijing to found a military alliance, said defense ministers of the both countries. "This is not a block initiative, it was scheduled last year as exclusively bilateral exercise", Russian defense minister Anatoly Serdiukov told reporters in Beijing on Apr 24.
Recall that Russian naval mariners are holding joint exercise with Chinese colleagues. The maneuvers will take place in the Yellow sea with up to 20 warships involved aside from supply vessels. The parties will conduct headquarter exercise and then take the sea.
Only Russian destroyer
Marshal Shaposhnikov alone has 140 contract seamen and 150 draftees on board. For many of them, it is the first deployment.
When at sea, the ships will practice anti-terror techniques, repel submarine and air attacks, drill in searching of civil vessels and rescuing their crews, reports
The Moscow Post.
