Russian Navy to get Project 22350 frigate Admiral Gorshkov in 2011 26.02.2010
Russian Navy will receive lead ship of Project 22350 frigate Admiral Gorshkov in 2011, informs RIA Novosti referring to the shipbuilder's source at Severnaya Verf shipyard (St. Petersburg).

The new frigate is expected to be launched late 2010 and will be commissioned into Russian Navy next year after series of trials.

According to the source, multipurpose frigates of Project 22350 will be delivered to all four Russia's fleets and become the main Russian ocean-going surface warships in 21 century. The Navy needs 20-30 frigates of this type.

At present, Severnaya Verf shipyard being the only supplier of Project 22350 frigates builds two ships of the project – Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Gorshkov and Admiral Flota Kasatonov.

The frigates were designed by Northern Design Construction Bureau in 2003-2005. Admiral Gorshkov was laid down on Feb 1, 2006; Admiral Kasatonov – on Nov 26, 2009. Total displacement of a Project 22350 ship is 4,500 tons; length is 130 meters; beam is 16 meters; draft is 4.5 meters; speed is 29 knots; crew is 210. Armament: 130-mm gun mount A-192; 8 antiship missiles 3M55 Onyx; 8 Medvedka-2 ASW missiles; 24 missiles of Uragan SAM system; Ka-32 helicopter.
