28.10.2009 Second out of four POVZEE vessels (ocean-going patrol boats for the surveillance of the exclusive economic zone of Venezuela) was set afloat on Oct 26 at San Fernando-Puerto Real shipyard, informs defense-aerospace.com referring to Navantia press-release. The boat was named Warao.
Among attendants of activation ceremony were Carlos Aniasi, Venezuelan Navy Commander-In-Chief, Julian Isais Rodrigues, Venezuelan ambassador in Spain, Admiral Padron, the head of Venezuelan Naval Mission in Spain, Aurelio Martinez, Navantia president and Fernando Miguelez, the shipyard director.
The construction was launched in Sept 2008, the keel was laid down in May 12, 2009.

Construction contract of four POVZEE vessels and four smaller coastguard ships was signed on Nov 28, 2005. Delivery is scheduled in Nov 2009 – July 2011.
