Russian sailing frigate Nadezhda conducting an exercise cruise over Pacific Ocean arrived to Sakhalin Island and moored at the port of Kholmsk. Frigate Nadezhda left Vladivostok on May 11 to hold exercise cruise over Pacific Ocean seas calling at ports of Kamchatka, Kuril Islands, and Sakhalin.

Russian Maritime Industry International Forum to be held in Moscow
Russian Maritime Industry International Forum will be held in May 19-21 in Moscow at Gostinny Dvor Hall and in waters of Moskva River. Among matters to be discussed are governmental support of shipbuilding and innovative projects. The forum will cover Russian shipbuilding and shipping industry in whole. Over 200 participants from 20 countries will display their exhibits at 14,000 sq meters.

Launching of SSN Severodvinsk postponed indefinitely
Launching of lead sub Severodvinsk was postponed indefinitely. The submarine was supposed to be launched on May 7. The delay was caused by technical reasons, reports Sevmash shipyard. Severodvinsk is the first 4-gen nuclear-powered attack submarine in Russian Navy.

The crew of tanker Moscow University gave new details of pirate assault. According to sailors, they had to fight pirates using fire hoses and even shooting ball bearings from slingshots. Tanker Moscow University was hijacked by Somali pirates on May 5.
