Experts of Black Sea Fleet (BSF) Search and Rescue Service hold a 2-day annual seminar. It is directed by the service acting commander Capt 1 rank Dmitry Zheltov. The activity is attended by the fleet's division commanders, ship commanding officers, their executives, and engineering officers.

Black Sea Fleet Rescuers Convene in Sevastopol

BSF senior diving expert Capt 2 rank Vladimir Kucheriavy reported on results of the SR service activities in 2012. It was said in the report that the fleet's rescue ships have covered over 80,000 miles, rescue ship Epron two times was on mission in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, salvage tug Shakhter also carried out tasks in the Atlantic and took part in exercise off the US, and seagoing tug MB-304 was supporting Russian anti-piracy task unit in the Gulf of Aden for 4 months. Through 2011, rescuers have carried out about 400 dives; one third of them were deep-water ones.
During practical part, officers were shown newest rescue equipment operated by BSF rescuers including unmanned deep-sea submersibles and new deep-sea diving armors. In addition, participants saw demonstration of life rafts and sea rescue platform, attended briefing on experience acquired during the Bold Monarch 2011 international rescue exercise and 120-meter diving drills recently finished.
