Russian-crewed cargo ship arrested in Great Britain

Russian-crewed cargo ship arrested in Great Britain 30.11.2009
Cargo ship Hanseatic Spirit with five Russians and one Ukrainian aboard was arrested Nov 27 in Great Britain, informs Maritime Bulletin.

British Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) arrested the vessel for numerous violations of security requirements in Portland. For instance, before sailing to Spain the emergency diesel-generator room was flooded. Among other drawbacks, representatives of MCA have found out that the vessel had not lifebuoys and the timesheet was falsified.

Cargo vessel Hanseatic Spirit was built in 1994; it belongs to Hamburg company Hanseatic Schiffahrt und Schiffsmanagement GmbH and sails under Antigua flag.
