China to Hold Exercise in Pacific Ocean

25.11.2011 China is about to conduct naval exercise in the Pacific Ocean late in Nov, said the Chinese defense ministry's press release published on Nov 24.

This is a scheduled exercise, it is not aimed against any country and goes with international practice and laws, reports Interfax citing the communique.

Beijing announced its plans to hold the exercise only a week after Obama declared intentions to escalate the US presence in the Pacific region.

Obama said at APEC Summit on Hawaii that the US set itself as a Pacific state and was planning to keep this status.
