Ships of the Black Sea Naval Co-operation Task Group (BLACKSEAFOR) practiced first sea episodes of the joint drill, reported Black Sea Fleet (BSF) Information Support Group on Wednesday.

"Crews of the international task group held drills on piloting ships behind sweeps, examination of ships, tactical maneuvering, search and salvage of a distressed ship, rescue of a man overboard, co-operation in control over civil shipping", said the BSF press release.

Russian Navy is represented at drills by BSF large landing ship Yamal under command of Capt 2 rank Alexander Kononenko.

During stay in Constanta (Romania), Yamal was equipped with BLACKSEAFOR unified comm system; meetings, briefings, and trainings on sea phase of the exercise were also held.

Russian ambassador to Romania Alexander Churilin visited Yamal prior to departure; an onboard excursion for children of embassy staff was also arranged on the same day.

Traditionally, during stay in the port of Constanta the Russian warship welcomed locals on board.

First sea phase of BLACKSEAFOR activation will be completed on Aug 19; the international task group will arrive to Sevastopol on the next day.
