Admiralteyskie Verfi is ready to build heli-carriers
24.08.2010
JSC Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard will participate in the tender for helicopter carriers which is to be opened by Russian defense ministry in Sept.
"Our shipyard has plenty of experience and productive capacities for that. Not long ago we built two 260-meter long tankers equipped with power plant similar to that of Mistral-type helicopter carriers. So, I don't see any problems to build such ships if we win the tender", said Vladimir Aleksandrov, at the press conference after keel-laying ceremony of submarine Novorossiysk.
As for him, to build a helicopter carrier, the shipyard needs one year for process preparation and 38-42 months for building a ship. Aleksandrov pointed out that today the tender could be won by Zvezda shipyard (Far East), Yantar shipyard (Kaliningrad), and Baltiysky Zavod jointly with Severnaya Verf (St. Petersburg) shipyards which are members of United Shipbuilding Corporation. Among foreign shipyards, French, Spanish, and Dutch companies can be regarded as competitors.
"We don't afraid of competition and even will wish winner luck", said Aleksandrov. "Our shipyard has formed the backlog of orders till 2017, and we look to the future positively". In the director's opinion, the distinctive feature and competitive advantage of Admiralteyskie Verfi shipyard is its skilled personnel able to achieve high-quality results using simple equipment comparable to products of Western shipbuilders made on high-tech equipment. Mean age of Admiralteyskie Verfi staff is 42; average monthly earnings are 31,000 RUR.
