BSF frigate Ladny reached Italy to attend IONIEX-2010
06.09.2010
Black Sea Fleet (BSF) frigate Ladny called at Italian port Taranto to participate in joint naval exercise IONIEX-2010, reported representatives of Russian embassy in Italy.
"Ladny is accompanied by salvage tug Shakhter. The crew led by Capt 2 rank Alexander Shvarts is going to have a cultural program; particularly, trip to Bari where hallows of St. Nicholas are located. Naval exercise will be held in Sept 8-9", said the source.
The IONIEX joint naval exercise is regularly held in the Ionian Sea once in two years when Russian warships call at Italian ports. The objective of maneuvers is practical implementation of partnership between the two navies, improvement of interaction of Russian and Italian headquarters and warships.
Italy is the last point of Ladny's cruise; the Russian frigate has visited ports of Greece, France, and Libya.
