A solemn launching and colors ceremony was held on Sept 4 in Khabarovsk; Ogonek class patrol ship was commissioned into Frontier Service. This is the fourth patrol ship built in recent years by Khabarovsk Shipyard for Coast Guard of Russian FSB Frontier Service, Khabarovsk branch.

Fundamental distinction of the new Ogonek from the previous ones is capability to freeze into the ice in wintertime.

According to declared characteristics, the ship has displacement of 95 tons, operational range of 500 nm, max speed of 40 kph. The crew is 18 men, endurance is 1 month.

At present, Russian Coast Guard units conduct renewal of ships and boats. Late 2009 frontiersmen obtained Mars class fast-speed air-cushion boats which have shown their worth in the current navigation.

New Coast Guard patrol ship will help frontiersmen to perform wide range of tasks on protection of river borders, reported Vostok Media referring to press release of Russian FSB Frontier Service, Khabarovsk branch.
