Citizen of Somalia admitted guilt of pirate attack on Danish vessel with 11 Russians on board in Nov 2008, reports Navy Times.

Also, Jama Idle Ibrahim confessed to use of arms for violent crime. According to prosecutors, that was the first admission of piracy registered in Washington DC.

The maximum term of imprisonment for Ibrahim is 35 years. However, the judge has the right either to reduce or to extend that term in the course of imprisonment.

Previously, Ibrahim admitted guilt of attacking a US warship which he confused with merchant ship; he was sentenced to 30 years imprisonment. As for his lawyer, new sentence will include this punishment.

Ibrahim wants to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, added the attorney.

"He tries to be very open", noted the lawyer. According to him, the pirate actively co-operates with investigation. Now he is in Virginia prison.

Dry cargo ship CEC Future carrying metal products was captured in the Gulf of Aden on Nov 7, 2008. Pirates armed with Kalashnikov rifles, hand grenade launchers, and pistol guns approached the ship by a motorboat. They took the crew hostages, directed the vessel to Somali coast, and held captive 11 Russians, one Georgian and one Lithuanian 71 days until the ransom was received.
