German vessel Magellan Star with Russian crewmen on board captured by Somali pirates on Sept 8 has been released.

The containership was won back from pirates by EUNAVFOR servicemen, reported ITAR-TASS citing the head of shipowning company.

Containership Magellan Star built in 2002 flies the flag of Antigua and Barbuda. The ship was returning to Europe from Indonesia after goods delivery. The containership was attacked by 6 pirates. Sailors requested for help and blocked themselves in a store room when pirates boarded the ship.
