Rear Admiral Andrei Riabukhin was appointed chief of Pacific Fleet HQ.

Andrei Riabukhin has spent the last day as commander of Belomorskaya Naval Base Commander, reports the Central Navy Portal. He started his service on Project 667B nuclear ballistic missile submarine; till appointed Belomorskaya Naval Base Commander in 2008 he served as 31st SSBN division commander.

Aside from other merits, the competent and esteemed admiral is known for his ice-hole swimming in the North Pole which was filmed by Rossiya TV channel during the cruise of SSBN K-84 Yekaterinburg in 2006 when the sub commanded by Capt 1 rank Sergei Rachuk (cruise commander – A. Riabukhin) launched ballistic missiles from the North Pole. That was made for the first time in 12 years.
