Indian defense commission positively appraised re-equipment and upgrade works on aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya held at Sevmash shipyard, Severodvinsk.

"Chief of warship production and procurement department Vice Admiral Nadel Nirajan Kumar who led the inspection noted positive work dynamics on the carrier", said Yekaterina Pilikina, the shipyard's press secretary.

According to her, the head of Indian military delegation who had recently visited Sevmash was satisfied with improvements in the carrier's architectural appearance, and takeoff tests with the model of MiG-29K. The Indian admiral said they were also satisfied with working progress on the ship's air-technical facilities, including arresters. Nonetheless, there are schedule underruns in some sections of the carrier which are to be overtaken, he added. The main thing is that everything has to be ready by the beginning of mooring trials scheduled in spring 2011, underlined the admiral.

According to the information published by Indian governmental press service, aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya will be delivered to Indian Navy in Dec 2012.
