Known Russian sailer Nadezhda returns to Vladivostok on Monday after training cruise around eastern Asian countries, reported RIA Novosti referring to the shipowner – Maritime State University.
Frigate Nadezhda sailed off Vladivostok on Sept 20 and arrived to Shanghai on Sept 25. Apart from the crew, there are 110 cadets of Maritime State University who are in training there. On Oct 2 the sailer left China, set a course for Japanese port Sakaiminato and arrived there on Oct 8. Nadezhda headed back to Vladivostok on Oct 12.
"The sailer Nadezhda is expected to call at Vladivostok on Oct 18. According to cadets, during almost one month of the cruise they have missed their homes but were much impressed by EXPO-2010 and Japanese city Sakaiminato. In addition, cadets obtained lots of new skills; for instance, they learned how to fold and set sails on their way home", said the interviewee.
He reminded that cadets had a huge cultural program in Shanghai. Apart from visiting various exhibition pavilions at EXPO-2010, they took part in business game "Young view on APEC summit" at the festivity associated with Russia's Day along with their future counterparts from China and met with Russian president Dmitry Medvedev.
"Then Nadezhda sailed to Sakaiminato, where cadets visited four universities, met with prefect of Tottori, and saw the city's main places of interest", said the interviewee.
He added that the sailer was open for visit both in Shanghai and Sakaiminato. Having boarded the frigate, guests could see presentations and photo show about the Russian Far East and Vladivostok.
Marine biography of sailing ship Nadezhda includes dozens of expeditions and cruises. In 2003 the frigate sailed off Vladivostok for around-the-world cruise associated with 200th anniversary of the first world cruise carried out by Russian seafarers Ivan Kruzenshtern and Yury Lisiansky. Through 14 months of the cruise, Nadezhda had covered about 45,000 nautical miles and visited 30 ports of 20 countries.
