BSF ship Yamal finished visit to Greek Piraeus

Black Sea Fleet (BSF) large landing ship Yamal had finished official call at Greek port Piraeus on Oct 25.
During the port stay, the cruise commander Capt 1 rank Igor Smolyak and Yamal's CO Capt 2 rank Alexander Kononenko paid protocol visits to local and port authorities; they also visited Aegean Sea Naval Commander.
The cruise commander thanked the representative of Greek Navy command for invitation to visit Piraeus; he also told about the mission executed by BSF large landing ship Yamal in the Mediterranean.
The warship hosted kids from the Russian embassy's school. Children got acquainted with the ship and held a feast with naval lunch.
There was a banquet arranged on board Yamal for civil and military officials of Piraeus and Greek Navy. Among attendants were Russian ambassador to Greece Vladimir Chkhikvishvili, representatives of Piraeus local administration, Greek naval officials, military attachés of Armenia, the UK, Egypt, Italy, Serbia, the U.S., and Turkey.
Visiting the ship, Russian ambassador said that traditional calls of Russian warships held at Greek ports every year contribute to strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.

Crew of BSF large landing ship Yamal along with representatives of Russian embassy and local authorities laid wreaths at the monument to Russian sailors in Piraeus cemetery; the ceremony was accompanied by honor guard and military band.
At the end of the visit, crewmembers of Yamal had some cultural activities. Russian marines had an opportunity to attend the museum ship Averov and went sightseeing.
Prior to departure of the Russian warship, BSF band gave a concert at the central square; the ship was open for locals and guests.
Having completed the visit to Piraeus and a short-term trip, BSF large landing ship Yamal moored at Spetses Island; the visit will last till Oct 28.
