Subsequent test launch of submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) Bulava has been set on Oct 29, 2010. According to RIA Novosti, the date was specified by the panel analyzed 13th test launch of the Russian missile; the previous launch was held on Oct 7, 2010. As for the expert outputs, 13th launch of Bulava was absolutely normal because of "tightened control over production process".

Date of Bulava's 14th launch is set

According to the missile's trial program, the second in 2010 launch of SLBM Bulava will be conducted by Project 941UM Akula nuclear submarine Dmitry Donskoy. If it is found successful, the next launch will be held by standard carrier – Project 955 Borei SSBN Yury Dolgoruky. Purpose of that trial is not only to test Bulava but to check operation of the sub which is about to start torpedo firings in the nearest future.
First in 2010 test launch of SLBM Bulava was conducted by Dmitry Donskoy in the White Sea. The destination was Kura Range, Kamchatka; all warheads hit the assigned targets. Latest effective launch was held on Nov 28, 2008. By the present time, out of thirteen test launches performed, six were found successful. The source in Navy Main HQ previously reported that once all three launches in 2010 are effective, Bulava can be commissioned no later than in mid-2011.
R-30 Bulava will become the major weapon of Borei class SSBNs (projects 955/955A/955U). Flight range of the missile will make about 8,000 km. Bulava will be capable to carry 6-10 nuclear MIRVs with yield up to 150 kilotons each and full weight of 1.15 tons.
