One can give a party even in the Hermitage – Anatoly Serdiukov
13.11.2010
It is prohibited to arrange parties on the cruiser Avrora, decisively said Russian defense minister Anatoly Serdiukov at the press conference, reports Komsomolskaya Pravda.
"Cruiser Avrora will no more have military crew. The ship has been a museum for a long time and will continue to be a branch of Navy Museum. What's the point to have sailors there?" said Serdiukov.
The question about rumors that the cruiser would be leased for banquettes evoked the minister's smile. "That's a historical site, what banquettes are you talking about? One can give parties even in the Hermitage, but this is wrong!" Serdiukov said.
We recall that in the nearest time all consignee sailors serving in the legendary cruiser will leave Aurora. They will be shifted by civilian employee personnel. The ship will be decommissioned from Russian Navy.
Some media sources recently reported that a New Year party would be held on board the famous cruiser. Allegedly, Moscow and St. Petersburg politicians and businessmen were offered to attend the New Year party at no-longer-military Avrora.
The similar party has been already given once. In the night of June 6, 2009 the glamorous presentation of Russian Pioneer magazine was held on board the symbol of the October Revolution. Guests of St. Petersburg Economic Forum and top-level officials had fun at the party arranged by Russian tycoon Mikhail Prokhorov.
