22.11.2010
Ships of Black Sea Fleet (BSF) ASW brigade headed by Capt 1 rank Oleg Krivorog have returned to the homebase; large ASW ship Kerch, frigates Pytlivy and Ladny, and submarine Alrosa commanded by Capt 2 rank Anton Zaitsev arrived to Sevastopol.
The cruise lasted several days. First drill - salvage of "damaged" submarine - was held under supervision of BSF Executive Officer VADM Alexander Troyan. The sub laid on the sea bottom. Submariners escaped from the sub with the help of rescue bell SK-64. The "main actor" was salvage vessel Epron headed by Capt 3 rank Denis Budysh.
The combat training continued with antisubmariners. The drill was conducted under the flag of BSF Deputy Commander VADM Sergei Menyailo who was on board frigate Pytlivy, as well as Capt 1 rank Oleg Krivorog.
Antisubmariners operated within attack groups; apart from abovementioned ships, small-sized ASW ship Muromets was also involved. The drill was held under command of Capt 3 rank Vadim Dzhanunts.
The crews had completely performed their tasks within three days. Muromets returned to the base yesterday; today arrived the 1st and 2nd rank ships. In particular, frigates successfully conducted torpedo firings, and large ASW ship Kerch launched antisubmarine rockets against the "enemy" submarine.
Brigade commander Capt 1 rank Oleg Krivorog said the crew of frigate Pytlivy headed by Capt 2 rank Oleg Knyazev did their job better. Missile officer Capt. Lt. Anton Kaplin and torpedo officer Capt. Lt. Bogdan Petrovich were named among other distinguished personnel.
In total, more than ten surface ships and a submarine were involved in that integrated exercise. Black Sea mariners are finishing execution of the year combat training plan.
