Admiral Levchenko returned to Severomorsk from the Gulf of Aden 30.11.2010

Long-range cruise of Northern Fleet (NF) large ASW ship Admiral Levchenko has been finished today. Headed by Capt 1 rank Stanislav Varik, the ship moored at her quay in Severomorsk.

Representatives of NF command, Kola flotilla, ASW ships division, and relatives of the crewmen were meeting the ship on the pier. After mooring and report of the ship's commanding officer, a solemn meeting started which was associated with the end of the long-range cruise. NF Commander Vice Admiral Alexander Vitko gave a traditional piglet roast to Capt 1 rank Stanislav Varik.

The cruise started on June 11 and lasted through the whole summer training period. The crew of Admiral Levchenko has spent 173 days at sea, having covered over 25,000 miles. Most of the time Northern mariners were engaged in anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden. Large ASW ship Admiral Levchenko had escorted 8 convoys with 51 vessels, mostly under Greek, Egyptian, and Panamanian flags. Among those convoys there were many Russian citizens.

The ship called at foreign ports of Djibouti, Salalah (Oman), Hokonsvern (Norway), and Spanish enclave Ceuta on African side of the Strait of Gibraltar.

Now the crew will have time for rest, recreation, and preparing the ship for new training year.
