20-year old serviceman of marine battalion Andrei Chitikov shot himself yesterday in Astrakhan having jerked out the pistol from a policeman's holster, reports Life News.

The tragedy occurred at regional military enlistment office. The criminal case has been already initiated.

This is the fourth suicide committed or attempted in Russian Navy through the recent month. 22-year old Lieutenant Maksim Kuropatkin fired his service pistol at forehead on Dec 2 being on duty at Pacific Fleet large landing ship Nikolai Vilkov in the presence of crewmates. At present, the officer is in military hospital; his health status is critical. Dead body of 23-year old lieutenant, his service pistol, and suicide note were found last Sunday in a military unit of Baltic Fleet. Body of 24-year old Lieutenant Ivan Egorov was found hanged in November on board Pacific Fleet missile cruiser Varyag.
