The crew of nuclear-powered submarine Omsk took premier place among similar class subs of Pacific Fleet and won the Chief of the General Staff's Pennant as a result of past exercise.

Commanding officer of SSN Omsk thanked the governor of Omsk region for assistance allowing the crew to accomplish all given tasks.

The crew of SSN Omsk took premier place among similar class subs of Pacific Fleet judging by results of 2010 training year (Dec-Nov), reported the sub's commander Capt 1 rank Valery Savon in a telegram to Leonid Polezhayev, the governor of Omsk region.

It was also said in the telegram that the submarine had won the Chief of the General Staff's Pennant for excellently conducted strategic exercise Vostok-2010. That exercise was the core combat training activity of Russian Armed Forces in 2010.

Capt 1 rank Valery Savon thanks the head of Omsk region "for rendered comprehensive help in maintaining SSN Omsk within permanent readiness force, and in supporting the submarine's crew".

Recall that the Omsk Regional Government took the sub under patronage in 2001. Within the framework of bilateral agreement the region renders material support to the sub's crew with the view to improve living conditions.

In addition, submariners and their families have a right for free annual sanatorium-resort therapy in medical institutions of Omsk region. Retired officers and warrants are provided with resettlement assistance.

It should be pointed out that over 150 Omsk residents had been serving on the submarine since 1993. Currently, there are 8 crewmen who are natives of Omsk region.
