Construction cost of nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) Alexander Nevsky which was laid down in 2004 will make RUR 23 bln, reported a representative of the sub's manufacturer, Sevmash shipyard.

"The project's lead sub – SSBN Yury Dolgoruky – costs RUR 23 bln. The second one will have nearly the same price", he said.

SSBN Alexander Nevsky is a 4-generation Borei class submarine; she is about to be delivered to the Navy in Dec 2011. Currently, the sub undergoes mooring trials in Severodvinsk.

Alexander Reznikov who is in charge for the submarine delivery said in his turn that exclusive standards for silence and surging are met, and the hull is more streamlined and fast-speeded. Besides, the sub is equipped with state-of-the-art automated systems.

He refused to specify technical characteristics of the submarine, although said she would have max speed of 28 knots which is common parameter for strategic subs.

Reznikov added that the new submarine practically has no difference with SSBN Yury Dolgoruky. He specified that missile tubes and living compartments are crucially new comparing to submarines of preceding projects. On the other hand, bow and stern compartments are analogous to those of Bars class subs.

"This is one of the first orders being completed in time and even with some advance in schedule", said Reznikov meaning satisfactory financing.

It is planned that SSBN Alexander Nevsky would be commissioned into Pacific Fleet.
