Warships of Russia's Pacific Fleet (PF) will reach the Gulf of Aden on Dec 22 in order to fight sea piracy, reported Monday RIA Novosti citing a spokesman for the Navy.

"PF task force consisting of large ASW ship Admiral Vinogradov, tanker Pechenga, and salvage tug SB-522 are at the cruise final stage. It is planned that the ships would reach the assigned region near the Horn of Africa on Dec 22", said the interviewee.

According to the official, Northern Fleet (NF) task force headed by large ASW ship Admiral Levchenko had been securing civil shipping in piracy-risky waters since July till Oct 2010. NF mariners had escorted 13 convoys and provided security for 57 vessels of various classes. Totally, there were 231 Russian crewmembers on board those ships.
