New Russian defense budget does not imply building of aircraft carriers
14.12.2010
State Arms Program 2011-2020 does not imply building of aircraft carriers and airfoil ships for the Navy, said vice premier Sergei Ivanov who is in charge for defense industry.
"No, there are no such plans. Defense minister have already told about that and I affirm that new defense program does not imply construction of aircraft carriers", he said at the press conference. According to him, this also regards to airfoil ships.
He also noted that both Russian government and defense ministry "are not fully satisfied with the fact that submarines are built in a seven-year periods". "That is too long, so in the new budget we will speed-up production process of those subs without charge up of the final output", said Ivanov.
