Russian defense ministry will receive RUR 19,040 bln under State Arms Program 2011-2020, said vice premier Sergei Ivanov at Monday's press conference.

"The total sum is RUR 20,700 bln. It is planned to appropriate RUR 19,040 bln for one of state orderers – Ministry of Defense. This numbers have been already approved", said Sergei Ivanov who is in charge for defense industry.

He said that 'distinctive aspect' of the adopted program is that most of funds would be invested in procurements of new arms.

"79 per cent of money will be spent for new hi-tech weapons", said the official having reminded that the rest of the sum would be appropriated for repairs and upgrade of currently used hardware.

Previous defense budgets have never had such proportions. "Not to tell that the coming state arms program is thrice as big as the current one which is to be finished in 2011", said the vice premier.

According to him, new program for 2011-2020 distinctly defines priorities – strategic nuclear forces, space platforms, missile carriers, reconnaissance assets, communication and targeting systems. Significant funds are invested in the Navy and air weapons.

Considerable sum will be appropriated for general-purpose forces as well, added Ivanov.
