Criminal case was initiated against Pacific Fleet Deputy Commander for Armaments Rear Admiral Farit Zinnatullin because of "abuse of office". He is suspected of signing a fictitious repairs certificate for rescue vessel Alagez, reports Main Military Procuracy of the Russian Federation.

According to military prosecutors, JSC 178th Ship Repair Plant received RUR 37 mln for repair of Alagez, although the works have not been done.

Head of Pacific Fleet technical services Capt 1 rank Vasily Shevchenko and former director general of the ship-repair plant Viktor Dymov are also targeted in the investigation. They are also suspected of signing fictitious repairs certificate and abuse of office.

Earlier on, Rear Admiral Zinnatullin was mentioned in the list of top-ranking officers punished after wreck of nuclear submarine Kursk sunken in 2000. Being deputy commander of Northern Fleet Submarine Flotilla, Zinnatullin was reprimanded "for serious neglect in organization of the fleet's routine and combat training activities".
