Construction of the first Project 20380 serial ship – corvette Soobrazitelny – is almost completed, reported press service of Severnaya Verf shipyard in the interview to the Central Navy Portal. We recall that the ship was laid down in St. Petersburg on May 20, 2003 and launched on March 31, 2010.

According to a representative of the yard's press service, the ship was ready for the first phase of sea trials as early as in Dec 2010, although complicated ice situation in the Gulf of Finland disrupted the plan.

Sea trials will be kicked off in spring right after the ice drifts away. While mooring trials are presently in progress, shipbuilders and contractors mount and adjust complicated equipment inside the hull. Crew of Soobrazitelny headed by Capt 2 rank Alexander Telepov master and habituate themselves to the new ship, and along with shipbuilders participate in the trials, accept already mounted arms and technical facilities.

Corvette Boiky which is the third ship of the series is currently placed in covered slipway of Severnaya Verf at the high level of completeness; the ship is about to be launched in spring. According to recent statement of Baltic Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Viktor Chirkov, Soobrazitelny and succeeding Boiky are planned to join Baltic Fleet.

Severnaya Verf continues building of the fourth ship – corvette Stoiky which was laid down in 2006. There is no reliable information about keel-laying date of the fifth corvette. It will not be officially declared about that until signing of a shipbuilding contract with Russian Navy – that is a normal policy of Severnaya Verf shipyard.

According to unconfirmed reports, the subsequent corvette will be meant for Black Sea Fleet and have a traditional name for our Navy – Provorny.
