Fire occurred on NF auxiliary vessel in Severodvinsk 24.01.2011

Severodvinsk firefighters could not extinguish fire through hours; the fire occurred in machinery compartment of oil tanker at White Sea Naval Base, Northern Fleet (NF).

According to Radio Mayak, there were 34 tons of fuel oil used for heating of the vessel in winter, and 2 tons of diesel fuel. Reportedly, two sailors suffered, although do not need hospitalization.

Totally, there were 4 out of 23 crewmen onboard the tanker in the moment of the fire outbreak. Fourteen fire teams took part in the firefighting operation. It is also known that the military procuracy holds inquiry into the incident.
