Russian Navy to receive first two MiG-29K fighters this year 11.02.2011

First two deck-based fighters MiG-29K will be delivered to Russian Navy in the current year. They will be based on aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov, reported ARMS-TASS referring to Russian delegation at the Aero India 2011 international air show.

Prior to that, interim director of the United Aircraft Engineering Corporation Mikhail Pogosian appeared at the press conference and pointed out grown interest of Russian Navy command to those aircrafts after 16 fighters had been sold to India.

Russian variant of MiG-29K will have onboard equipment different from that of exported aircrafts. Indian Navy received first 16 MiG-29K fighters, and then the basic contract was supplemented with an option providing purchase of other 29 fighters of this kind from MiG Corporation.
