Turkish Navy Commander visited nuclear-powered missile cruiser Petr Veliky 30.03.2011

Turkish military delegation headed by Admiral Bilgel Emin Murat, Turkish Navy Commander visited Northern Fleet (NF) main base Severomorsk on Tuesday and discussed cooperation between the two navies, said NF Commander's press secretary Vadim Serga.

"Acting NF Commander Rear Admiral Andrei Volozhinsky met with Bilgel Emin Murat in Northern Fleet HQ. They discussed issues of naval cooperation and interchanged memorable gifts. Both admirals agreed that Russian and Turkish navies had great perspectives and common tasks", said Serga.

According to him, after the meeting Turkish admiral had an opportunity to visit NF nuclear-powered missile cruiser Petr Veliky where he was greeted by honor guard.

On Monday Bilgel Emin Murat met with his Russian counterpart Admiral Vladimir Vysotsky in Moscow. The parties talked over common security issues and festive events related to 10th anniversary of BLACKSEAFOR task force to be held in Turkey early in April.

Turkish delegation visited St. Petersburg on Wednesday; Turkish Navy Commander delivered a speech to officers of the Kuznetsov Naval Academy. Besides, the guests attended the Central Navy Museum and legendary cruiser Avrora.

Turkish military delegation will leave Russia on March 31.
