The head of United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Roman Trotsenko says a price rise in shipbuilding is expected in the nearest two years. Costs of contracts and new orders will grow on 30% due to shipbuilding steel price getting up.

Alongside with that, experts forecast profit growth rates in Russia's engineering industry will also make 25-30% in 2011.

Net income of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation was about RUR 200 mln in 2010. According to estimates of Russia's Central Maritime Research Institute, portion of Russian shipbuilding at global market is 0.2%.

As for USC experts, since 2001 till 2009 Russian shipping companies had put into operation over 140 new transport sea-going vessels with overall deadweight of 9.8 mln tons. Only 4 per cent of them were built by national shipyards; the rest were exported. Normally, vessels built abroad fly foreign flags, too. According to experts, now only 6% of Russia's foreign-trade cargoes are shipped by Russian-flagged vessels. For this reason, our country losses at least RUR 8-10 bln per year.
