Over 360 companies to attend IMDS-2011 06.05.2011

Over 360 companies including 60 foreign ones have registered to participate in the 5th International Maritime Defense Show (IMDS-2011) which is to take place in St. Petersburg since June 29 till July 3, reports ITAR-TASS referring to the exhibition's headquarters.

The show initiated by Russian Ministry of Trade and Industry will be participated by representatives of defense ministry, foreign ministry, Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), administration of St. Petersburg, and Rosoboronexport.

The exposition will include defensive products of Russian and foreign companies, naval armaments and equipment. Business activities and visits to military factories are also scheduled. Over 40 ships and boats of Russian defense ministry, FSB Frontier Service, and participating companies will be displayed at seaport quays. Four foreign warships are also expected to arrive.

Demonstration firings of 10 naval artillery systems will be conducted at Rzhevka Naval Range. Aerobatic teams Strizhi and Russian Knights along with helicopters and UAVs will hold an air show over the Gulf of Finland.

IMDS-2011 will envelop all areas of naval arms and engineering – shipbuilding, powerplants, naval weapons, navigation and control systems, naval aviation, basing infrastructure, new materials and technologies.

Considerable exhibition areas are given to companies which deliver equipment, instruments, electronic components, IT, and furnish consulting, financial, and insurance services in the area of designing, shipbuilding and arms development.
