Pacific Fleet (PF) undersea warfare unit conducted naval base patrol drills at the closing stage of winter training period.

Combat divers practiced protection of ships at inner and outer anchorage. According to scenario, anti-terror group was supposed to find and deactivate concealed explosive device during inspection of a ship's underwater part. "Surprise" was a magnetic mine this time; PF divers found it and towed to safe place for further disposal.

For the unit, physical training takes same time as special training. That is why during one of episodes "frogmen" demonstrated their undersea warfare skills and detained a "violator". Also, they conducted encounter hand-to-hand fight against "diversionists".

Recall that in May 2010 servicemen of this unit played a crucial part in release of Russian tanker Moscow University captured by Somali pirates.

Apart from combat training, undersea warfare unit has to perform peacetime operations. For instance, seabed exploitation at construction sites of APEC Summit, underwater inspection of harbor structures, and so on.

According to the unit leader, such activities are held on the regular basis. However, this was a qualification drill at the closing stage of PF winter training period.
