Pacific Fleet ships arrived in Indonesia

Pacific Fleet ships arrived in Indonesia 25.05.2011

Pacific Fleet (PF) task unit consisting of large ASW ship Admiral Panteleyev and salvage tug Fotiy Krylov called at Indonesian port Makassar on May 25; the unit is headed by Capt 1 rank Viktor Sokolov.

The meeting ceremony was held at 10.30 am (local time). Russian mariners were met on the pier by commander and staff officers of Makassar naval base and assistant of Russian military attaché in Indonesia.

During the visit which is to be conducted till May 29, Pacific mariners will participate in an anti-piracy seminar, practice elements of forthcoming exercise, hold sport events and a number of official and informal meetings with their Indonesian counterparts.

Upon termination of the visit on May 29, Russian and Indonesian servicemen will conduct joint communication and maneuvering drills. Russian ships will sail between Indonesian islands towards Pacific Ocean for the first time ever. When maneuvers are over, PF task unit will set a course homeward.

Recall that the unit left Singapore on May 20 where it had been attending the IMDEX-2011 international arms show along with warships from 15 countries since May 16.
