Northern Fleet (NF) large ASW ship Admiral Chabanenko left NF main naval base and set the course for the US to participate in the FRUKUS-2011 international naval exercise to be held since June 20 till July 1.

FRUKUS is the annual exercise conducted under cooperation program between French, Russian, British, and US navies. This is going to be the 20th exercise and will be held in the Atlantic near the US coast. Basic objective is practicing and improvement of cooperation within joint anti-piracy task force and convoy escorts. The exercise will consist of several episodes including joint maneuvering, repelling of fast-speed vessels' attacks, dropping of search teams, inter-ship helicopter landings, etc.
Guided missile destroyer USS James Williams (US Navy), frigate HMS Portsmouth (British Royal Navy), frigate Ventose (French Navy), and NATO naval aviation will take part in the exercise along with the Russian warship.
