Administration of Sevastopol (Crimea, Ukraine) is about to demand increase of lease payment for Russian Black Sea Fleet (BSF) based in the city, reports The Correspondent.

Deputy Mayor of Sevastopol Sergei Zhivoduyev said the city would ask for higher social-oriented payments during talks with Russian officials in June 8-10.

Mr. Zhivoduyev did not specify how much money Sevastopol needs. "We're not going to discuss how many times higher the lease payment should be", he said. However, he pointed out that Russia must invest more in the city's social development, since the most of retired BSF officers stay in Sevastopol and use pension benefits.

In March 2011 Sevastopol asked BSF to repay indebtedness of the fleet's enterprises to the amount over UAH 20 mln. In May 2011 Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich relieved Sevastopol Mayor Valery Saratov from office.
