Black Sea Fleet (BSF) salvage tug Shakhter which took part in international submarine rescue exercise Bold Monarch-2011 near Spain left the exercise area and set a course for US naval base Norfolk.

Black Sea Fleet salvage tug Shakhter to attend FRUKUS-2011

A new task is assigned to the ship; salvage tug Shakhter along with Northern Fleet large ASF ship Admiral Chabanenko will participate in the FRUKUS-2011 joint naval exercise.
The 20th annual exercise FRUKUS will take place near US coast since June 20 till July 1. British, American and French warships will traditionally attend the exercise along with Russia.
Main purpose of the exercise is to practice anti-piracy and convoy-escorting activities within the international task force.
