Caspian Flotilla (CF) small gunnery ship Astrakhan and sea-going tug MB-58 took the high sea on June 15 led by CF Commander Rear Admiral Sergei Alekminsky, reports Southern Military District Information Support Group.

During the cruise CF mariners will secure Russia's economic activity in the Caspian Sea, practice joint maneuvering and hold other drills.

Prior to departure, rector of St. Fedor Ushakov Church sanctified same-named icon donated to the church by Caspian Flotilla. When the cruise is finished, mariners will return the icon to the church.
