Black Sea Fleet (BSF) refutes information released by some news agencies that one of Russian checkpoints in Crimea was allegedly blocked, reported RIA Novosti referring to the fleet's spokesman.

As was previously reported, the Russian checkpoint was picketed by activists of Ukrainian youth organization "Students' Fraternity" protesting against presence of the Russian fleet in Ukraine.

"Reports of some Russian and Ukrainian media agencies that a Russian checkpoint was blocked in Crimea and that a road to Russian military camp was shut off is nothing but deception", said the interviewee.

He explained that activists of "Students' Fraternity" really showed near the checkpoint. "They stayed there for several minutes, although took no actions and went away", said the Black Sea Fleet HQ representative.

On Aug 21, a source in Sevastopol department of internal affairs told to RIA Novosti that a group of young Ukrainians illegally intruded into the territory of BSF lighthouse located next to the checkpoint mentioned above and tried to take the site under control. Russian servicemen guarding the lighthouse stopped the trespassers and handed them to Ukrainian law enforcement agencies. After examination, police let the young people go. They continued protest actions by crushing tents near the lighthouse.

Since 2005 "Students' Fraternity" has been conducting protest actions against presence of Russia's Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine. The organization activists picket the fleet's units, lighthouses and other assets demanding "to stop occupation of Ukraine". In 2006-2007 representatives of "Students' Fraternity" tried to capture BSF lighthouses several times alleging that those lighthouses belong to Ukraine and referring to local court's decision.
