The farewell ceremony was held on Aug 29 in Vladivostok; the sixth Pacific Fleet (PF) task unit led by large ASW ship Admiral Panteleyev headed for the Horn of Africa to protect civil shipping from pirates.

PF Acting Commander Rear Admiral Sergei Avakiants also attended the farewell ceremony on the pier. He wished the crews luck while being on mission in that restless region.

In his turn, the task unit commander Capt 1 rank Andrei Saprykin assured that the crews were ready to accomplish all assigned tasks excellently.

Recall that in spring 2009 Admiral Panteleyev was the second PF warship performing anti-piracy tasks off eastern Africa. In May 2011 the ship took part in anti-piracy exercise along with counterparts from Singapore and Indonesia.
