New ice-class tug to be named after known Pacific Fleet officer
06.09.2011
Throughout the years of his service career, Capt 1 rank Alexander Piskunov had made a great contribution to improvement of Pacific Fleet combat readiness. He had passed the path from navigation group officer to PF auxiliary fleet commander and had accumulated great experience in keeping ships' operational availability; that experience was passed on to next generations then. Many of officers trained by Alexander Piskunov became commanders of ship divisions, and one of them headed Baltic Fleet.
Sea-going tug Alexander Piskunov is going to be delivered to the Navy late in 2011 after transfer to acceptance base in Vladivostok. Tug vessels of this project are designed for towing works, floating off ships, fire extinguishing of damaged vessels and coastal assets, and diving operations at depths down to 20 meters.
