SSN Severodvinsk Took Sea for Trials 13.09.2011

New generation nuclear-powered attack submarine (SSN) Severodvinsk sailed off on Sept 12 for sea trials, reports press service of Sevmash shipyard, the sub's builder.

This is the first shipyard's sea trials of the Project 885 Yasen lead submarine. It is carried out by trial team headed by Vladimir Dobrovolsky. The sub started sea trials under command of Capt 1 rank Sergei Mitiayev.

SSN Severodvinsk was designed by Malakhit maritime engineering bureau (St. Petersburg). The sub was withdrawn from covered slipway on June 15, 2010 in the presence of president Medvedev.
