Baltiysky Zavod Shipyard Gets New Director 13.10.2011

Valery Venkov was appointed acting Director General of JSC Baltiysky Zavod shipyard. His predecessor Andrei Fomichev recently resigned.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak and president of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation Roman Trotsenko on Oct 11 introduced new acting director general to the yard's employees.

Curriculum Vitae

Valery Venkov was born on March 5, 1947 in Leningrad.

He started his career in 1962 at Baltiysky Zavod as linesman's apprentice.

In 1971 he graduated from Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute and took degree in shipbuilding production engineer. After graduation, Venkov worked at Baltiysky Zavod, having passed all career stages from foreman to deputy director general for production. Since 1998 till 2004 he worked as director general of JSC Severnaya Verf shipyard.

In 2008-2011 Venkov has been holding executive positions in JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation.

Valery Venkov is Candidate of Science.

JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was established in 2007 with proviso that 100% shares are held by the government. The holding comprises over 50 shipbuilding companies and organizations (main shipyards and ship-repair plants, leading design bureaus).

Currently, about 70% of Russian shipbuilding industry is consolidated on the basis of USC. The state-led corporation is oriented at Russian market, although exports its production to 20 countries.
